How to join

Slack is an internal discussion space of the German Effective Altruism community, in addition to the global, public EA Forum. We use it to coordinate events, discuss Effective Altruism and meet other community members with shared interests.

We’re united by sharing the guiding principles of EA:

  • Commitment to Help Others
  • Scientific Mindset
  • Openness
  • Integrity
  • Collaborative Spirit

If you agree to these principles and our Code of Conduct, please join!

How to invite others to Slack

This Slack is for people who have already engaged with the community and share the principles of EA.
If you know people who fit these criteria, feel free to invite them! Just send them the link to this website.

For people who have not yet had personal contact with EA, we recommend you first share more resources with them (such as Effective Altruism or 80,000 Hours) and if they’re interested, invite them to an event or a 1-1 conversation. We think it’s nicer for new people to talk to someone first and then join Slack.

You want to get engaged?

  1. Read the introduction to effective altruism for a first overview.
  2. Subscribe to our planned newsletter, to get updates about new programs and offers.
  3. Take part in the intro program to learn and discuss the basics with others online or on-site.
