Where do I work if I want to make the world a better place?

For many people, it makes sense to work directly on the world’s most pressing problems – in research, politics or for particularly effective aid organisations.

Another option that few people think of is a well-paid job outside these sectors. This strategy is called “earning to give“. The concept: a relevant proportion of the income earned goes to effective organisations. You don’t have to be a top earner to do this: As a teacher and in many training professions, you can do an incredible amount of good with your donated income.
