Volunteering
You can integrate the ideas of Effective Altruism into your own career planning or donate to particularly effective charities. You also have the opportunity to get involved in Effective Altruism in your spare time: Find a suitable role for you through our Volunteer Programme, for example leading a local group or the Intro Program or organising events. If you’d like to speak to us directly, schedule a 1-1.
If you engaged for less than 10 hours with content related to Effective Altruism, please have a look at our media collection first or consider taking part in our Intro Program.
If you don’t have a career plan yet, we recommend creating one first. Then you can determine whether and how volunteering helps you to do good in the long term. Our Career Planning Programme will help you with this.
Help out in local groups
In a local group, you can organise workshops, lectures, or discussions or host a fundraising event. We are happy to put you in touch with a local group or help you set up a new one if there isn’t one in your area yet.
Get involved with an organisation
Get involved with an organisation that is part of the effective altruism community. For example, we are looking for organisers for retreats and the intro program. Be honest: how much can you help – and what skills do you have?

Are you looking for other opportunities?
Publish a text
Write an article or a question in your blog or the effective altruism forum and contribute to the further development of the community. In doing so, you structure your thoughts, practise expressing them better, and create added value for others.
Do something of your own
Of course, you can also realise projects independently of a local group. However, it is best to exchange ideas with others during the planning phase and ask for feedback. For example, lobby your employer for more effective social engagement – and for your colleagues to be able to participate.
Are you looking for other volunteering opportunities and haven’t found what you’re looking for in our volunteer program? Maybe you’ll find the right opportunity on the EA Opportunities Board!
