Effektiver Altruismus Deutschland e.V. (EAD) is a network of people in Germany who are committed to helping the world and make benefiting others an important part of their lives. You can find more information about the association here.

EAD makes strategic decisions about the development of the German EA community. With your involvemen as a member of the assocation you can have a significant influence on the German EA movement.

Why should I become a member?

As our association’s member you

  • become part of the network. In order for EA Germany to represent the German EA community, it is important that you become a part of it and contribute your voice,
  • can elect the board and other positions,
  • can apply to become a board member and directly influence the strategy in Germany.

What are the requirements for becoming a member?

  • Membership is open to all persons who identify with Effective Altruism and its principles.
  • Members should have an in-depth knowledge of Effective Altruism and the movement in Germany.

Which duties do I have as a member?

  • The role of association members is to support the development of EAD and the Effective Altruism movement, especially within Germany.
  • You can be a member as long as you consider yourself committed to the values of Effective Altruism and are willing to support the development of EAD and the EA movement, especially within Germany.
  • We recommend participation in the annual general meeting (election of the board and other positions and decision of directional issues). However, this is not obligatory.
  • There is no membership fee.

What are my rights as a member?

  • Association members have voting rights in accordance with the articles of association, rules of procedure and association regulations.
  • You can elect the board and other positions, stand for election as a member of the board or for other positions and participate in important strategic decisions in Germany.

Admission process

The admission process for new members consists of:

  1. completing the membership application,
  2. an interview with a team member of EA Germany,
  3. and the decision about admission by the co-directors or members of the board.
